Living Here

RiverPointe is a unique residential development sitting at the gateway to Hells Canyon, with spectacular views of the Snake River where it still runs free. The development lies within the city limits of Asotin, once a winter camping, hunting, and fishing spot for the Nez Perce Indians, who described the area as having “no wind, no snow.” Although officially part of the city, and benefiting from city water, sewer, and utilities, RiverPointe lies on the border, and overlooks the wild, pristine portion of the Snake River canyon.

Just a short distance from the entry to the development, a paved walking trail and sidewalk through the town of Asotin, Washington lead you to Chief Looking Glass Park and the beginning of this amazing system of trails developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Walk, bike, rollerblade or run four miles along the Snake River from Chief Looking Glass Park to Swallow’s Park and a busy boat launch. From here, you’ll continue under the Southway Bridge, by beaches, through parks and beneath beautiful trees to the confluence of the Clearwater and Snake rivers. Restrooms are available along the way.

If you’re feeling really adventurous cross the Blue Bridge over to Lewiston, Idaho and continue along the Clearwater River, or turn South towards Hells Gate State Park.

Wine Time

RiverPointe Development is within a few miles of several award-winning wineries. Clearwater Canyon Cellars in Lewiston, Idaho, Basalt Cellars in Clarkston, Washington and Colter’s Creek Winery in Juliaetta, Idaho create wines made mostly from local grapes. Some of the wineries bring in grapes from the world-famous Walla Walla or Columbia Valley, about 90 miles west of here.

Colter’s Creek in Juliaetta, makes for an enjoyable afternoon or evening adventure. Sample local wines and microbrews in their tasting room and wine bar and settle in with some tasty treats from their small plates menu and a glass of whatever hit your palate that day.

The owners of Clearwater Canyon Cellars, Karl and Coco, are fun to hang out with at the tasting room on a Saturday or Sunday. Coco will pour you a taste of wine and tell you about how it’s made from grapes grown on a slope that grew grapes 140 years ago that were made into award-winning wine!

In addition to having amazing varietals of wine, the Basalt Cellars tasting room is filled with fabulous wine-related accessories, t-shirts and other items that make great gifts.

Plan your fun wine adventures around the area and don’t forget to tell them we sent you!
